Exploring The Anatomy Of The Mind For Success

By Greg Frost

Exploring the anatomy of the mind for success is something every individual should consider investing time in. Often likened to that of a super computer, the human mind is a very powerful device, allowing us to go far in life, be successful and realize whatever dreams which we may have. Thus, it is important for any individual to explore the anatomy of the mind in order to open up any possible paths to success in life.

At the very outset, it is important to recognize that the human mind is essentially made up of two main parts - the conscious mind and the subconscious mind. These two parts of the human mind function in conjunction with one another and are by no means separate entities. Achieving success would be a factor dependent on how well these two parts of the brain are used with one another.

To start off, we begin with the conscious mind. This part of the mind is what we use often in our day-to-day functions in places such as in school or at the office. This part of the mind controls cognitive functions such as our thought process, decision making process and analysis of problems. This is also the part which school tends to train, by enhancing our mental framework in more sophisticated ways. This part of the mind is able to reason and differentiate between things that are good or bad as well as being true or false. While this part of the mind is necessary in allowing us to go about daily lives, it is insufficient merely to rely completely on this part of the human mind to achieve success in life.

Subsequently, we move on to the subconscious mind. This part of the mind does not rest, unlike our conscious mind, even working while we are asleep. The subconscious mind covers many functions which we often take for granted, such as when we are breathing during sleep, the way we speak and the way we eat. This part of the mind is unable to differentiate various occurrences that it might come into contact with. Such occurrences include truth from falsity, as well as reality and the imaginary. Whatever information that the subconscious brain comes into contact with is not filtered or analyzed and gets programmed into our conscious mind, which determines the action ultimately carried out by us. This transmission of information form the subconscious to the conscious mind is carried out after a process of repetitions and a series of affirmations.

Given that, our subconscious mind is extremely vulnerable to negative affirmations. Negative messages can often work their way unnoticed into our subconscious where it enters our conscious mind and manifests itself as the result which we do not want to see. Thus, it is important for us to develop positive affirmations. This could take the forming of using positively charged words that appeal to our self-esteem and inner needs. It could also entail surrounding ourselves with positive like-minded people who never consider failure as an option.

Success or failure all rests upon how well we make use of our subconscious minds. What's stopping you from making the change for the better?

How to Make Your Mind Work For You

By Ralston Heath

So you have finally decided that there is something to this manifesting thing, and you now know that your subconscious mind has a lot to do with it. The next logical step is to learn how to direct and control this phenomenon to your benefit. So what to do next? Today's discussion we will talk about how one goes about making the universe work for them.

Let us start with an example: If you wanted an errand accomplished for you, you would give that person proper instructions as to what task needs accomplished and what you expect to be done. Let us say that you needed a letter taken to the post office and mailed. You would tell that person to take this letter, go to the post office and put the envelope in the proper mail slot so it will be processed promptly and will get to where it needs to go; and with a certainty that the person you asked to do this errand will do just that, you dismiss it from your mind and think no more about it. You wouldn't doubt their ability to do so; nor would you doubt their willingness. You would instinctively know that the errand would be done.

Well in a similar manner you can give your subconscious mind instructions with the same certainty of accomplishment. Suppose you needed a sum of money for some project, or to pay a bill. You instruct your subconscious mind with words to the effect of; "I will be guided in thought and action toward the solution of my problem." You can add a few conditions such as "It will be easy, and fun, to get the amount of money needed."

When you do this you may need to repeat it a few times until you "feel" that it is done. Then when you have taken this action and affirmed it to your comfort level two things happen, (and it will happen quickly) First; you would lose the feeling of doubt as to the ability to obtain the money. There will be a feeling of assurance that by the deadline, the needed money would be available. Then secondly thoughts would begin flowing into your conscious mind not just telling you what to do, but actually inspiring you to take steps necessary to obtain the money.

Here again we must reiterate a conversation from before; your subconscious works best when your conscious mind is pleasantly occupied. So issue the instructions, and then be comforted in the knowledge that your will is being done. Go about your other duties and tasks of the day and do not forget to do something entertaining and relaxing, such as a puzzle, or your hobby. Within a short time you will begin to see results of your instructions beginning to come to fruition.

Whenever you have to make a decision, and the thought will not come to you, give your subconscious the instruction to come up with the right choice and then put the problem entirely out of your mind, you can get a deck of cards and play solitaire for an hour, work on your model airplane, or wash the dishes. After a short while the right decision to make will be crystal clear in your mind. While your conscious is distracted, your subconscious will consider the problem, calmly working out the logical solution.

From this moment on, and for the rest of your life you should begin forming the habit of putting the subconscious to work for you. This creative power is on the job twenty-four hours every day. As you learn to use that great force, you will find that you have more happiness, satisfaction, and enjoyment of life.

Let us crystallize the dominant idea of this conversation: The subconscious does its best work while the conscious mind is either distracted or pleasantly occupied. This gives you the happy news that with this skill you will be more successful in all you do. You now realize that it is essential that you take time for enjoyable diversion. You can work smarter, or you can be working harder and longer. By allowing your subconscious to do your constructive thinking and planning, while your conscious mind does something else, you will receive many good ideas and suggestions. Then simply put into action the results you receive, and soon you will be outrageously successful. People will see the change in you and this may give you the opportunity to teach them this little secret.

Now some of you may ask: "If I work my subconscious twenty four hours every day, won't I be mentally tired?" The answer is a resounding: No! You must understand that right now your subconscious is already working twenty four hours each day and will be working twenty four hours a day until the time you leave this existence. If it is not being directed into positive, constructive use through positive and constructive thinking, it will be working against you by obeying your negative thoughts. Either way your subconscious will obey your commands, so it is time to begin using it to your advantage.

So let us review the important points of this conversation: First off your subconscious, if permitted to, will direct you in your work, making it better, easier, and far more pleasant. Then second you can, at will, direct your subconscious to assist you in the solving of problems, making the right decisions, and to discover ways and means of great achievement for you. In a previous conversation we discussed how you do not become proficient in anything unless you practice, so start today, and for the rest of your life, never stop using your own subconscious mind.

Now a quick discussion of how you can help your subconscious to help you.
Remember that your subconscious is working every hour of the day; and that it is working either for or against you. So with that in mind here is the first step: Be specific in the instructions you give; know that your subconscious will direct you to take the steps necessary and rest assured that your subconscious, with its reasoning faculties, will provide a practical solution for you. Then free your mind from worry, seek distraction, enjoy your hobby, play a board game, do a crossword puzzle. Then expect and have faith that the solution will be presented to you shortly. Make sure you do not worry; worry prevents you from doing the things which would provide the means to prevent the worry. To worry is to doubt the intelligence and power of your subconscious and worrying will not help the problem in the least, it will make it worse. Instead of worrying; take the time which you might use for worry and devote it to constructively working out ways and means of overcoming the problem.

Well I hope you can sense the feeling of self mastery which comes when you fully understand the effect that the conscious mind is the master of the subconscious, and that the subconscious is a true and faithful servant bringing about that which you command. This may seem too good to be true; but with what we have just discussed, the results obtained are only normal and to be expected, by those of us who make use of the subconscious mind.

Use Your Mind Power To Achieve Greater Things In Life

By Greg Frost

The mind is a very powerful tool. It moulds your identity, thoughts, feelings and opinions. That is just how powerful your mind is. As such, it is not a wonder that people are now turning to self-hypnosis techniques to allow them to reprogram the mind to help you achieve greater things in life.

First things first, mind power would largely refer to anything your subconscious mind has got to offer you. The subconscious mind is the part of the brain that controls your actions and reactions and even feelings. As such, if you are exposed to too much of violence, there are chances that you might inherited a tiny bit of the quality.

Similar rules applies to those who want to achieve greater things in life. While we know that success does not come with a snap of a finger, there are techniques that you can use to make your road to success are smooth sailing one.

This calls for some help from self-hypnosis.

Self-hypnosis can really help you do the trick. Self-hypnosis is used to reprogram your part of the brain with regards to the subconscious mind. By doing so, you are able to attain the desired results out of life and grasp on the lifestyle that you have been dreaming of. As you do so, you will be able to discover more about yourself and your personal development. This self-hypnosis will also change the way you view certain things and eliminate unwanted barriers that has been barricading you from any opportunities of success.

The D-I-Y hypnosis process involves 2 main steps. Firstly, you will need to relax and focus. Next, speak and write in a positive and present tense affirmation. The first few tries will seem tough at the start; however, you will feel like it is second nature to you once you get the hang of it.

Alternatively, you could purchase a CD or download programs that are available off the Internet. These hypnosis CDs are also popularly known as subliminal CDs. They are not your average CDs. They contain tracks with sounds of nature, binaural beats and music and beneath these songs, there are special messages embedded in it. These messages however cannot be detected to you consciously. Only your subconscious mind can detect it and these positive affirmations or messages that are embedded within them will their way around the subconscious mind. Your subconscious mind will process these messages and that is how you will get to "trick" your mind to do the things that you never thought of before, in order to achieve the desired goal.

Your mind power determines how successful you will be. You can be successful but there are also others who are extremely successful. How do you think that they can make it to the top? It takes loads of will power, mind power and determination.

Everyone can achieve the success that they have always dreamed of. But of course, mind power is just one of the trick. The other secrets to success are not really secrets. They are right under your nose, actually. Figure them out and it makes a perfect concoction to go with your mind power.

The Subconscious Mind and the Law of Attraction

By Yvonne Ellis

Since Oprah aired her programs on "The Secret" and the Law of Attraction, most people have at least heard of the Law of Attraction and have some understanding of what it means. Simply put, the law of attraction means energy attracts like energy. You may also have heard it expressed as "like attracts like', "that which is like unto itself is drawn" and even "thoughts become things".

The law of attraction, like all the universal laws, operates whether you are aware of it or not, or believe it or not. The often-used terms "what you focus on grows", "careful what you wish for (cause you just might get it)", "birds of a feather flock together" and "you can't get enough of what you don't want" are all examples of ways that we describe the law of attraction in action.

Every minute of every day, your thoughts and feelings are creating vibrations which are constantly broadcast to, and received, by the universe. This activates the law of attraction which then matches your vibrations and attracts to you similar vibrations in the form of people, things and situations in your life. In other words you are always creating your life through your thoughts and feelings. The conditions in your life, whether they are what you want or not, are always a match to your dominant vibrations.

So, the question becomes - if your life is not how you would wish it to be, how do you change it? And the answer most often given by law of attraction and personal development teachers is a simple one - change your thoughts.

Simple - yes, but not easy. Here's why.

Somewhere between 94 - 98% of all thoughts are subconscious, that is, below or out of conscious awareness which means that only 2 - 6% of your thoughts are ever conscious. We're so used to not paying attention to our thoughts that most of the time we're not even aware that we have any.

However, if you stop and pay attention, you will probably notice that there is an almost constant chatter going on in your head. If you've ever tried to meditate you've probably experienced just how inane and irrelevant much of that chatter is and just how difficult it can be to still the mind enough to silence it. Meditators often call this phenomenon "monkey mind" as thoughts seem to jump around from subject to subject like a monkey.

The law of attraction responds to ALL of your thoughts, those you are aware of, and those you are not. The mind is absolutely amazing. The subconscious mind is like a faithful servant, looking after all the automatic processes in the body that you are not consciously aware of like breathing, digestion, heat regulation, elimination, contracting and relaxing muscles to produce movement and so on. Can you imagine how difficult it would be to learn to walk if we consciously had to contract and relax each muscle at exactly the right time? Impossible.

The subconscious also contains all your beliefs, values and old programming that may or may not be relevant to your life today. When you are not consciously directing your thoughts, which is 94 - 98% of the time, the subconscious takes over and replays all the old stuff in its files. Its job is to maintain the status quo. Scientists have shown that upwards of 90% of the thoughts that you think today will be the same as the thoughts you had yesterday, and the day before, and the day before. Which most likely means that the life you are creating tomorrow will be exactly the same as today.

So, if you want to change your life, you must change not only your conscious thoughts, but also any subconscious programming that may be in conflict with your desire. For example, if you want to lose weight and affirm to yourself "I am slim and sexy", but your subconscious is running an old program that says "I'm fat and always will be" or something similar then the law of attraction will bring you more of being fat since the subconscious is running its program far more often and with more emotional intensity than your conscious affirmations or visualization (and that's assuming your feelings are even congruent with your affirmation).

Old subconscious programming can be changed and in our next article & newsletter we will explore some of the tools available to help you change and/or disable old, disempowering programs and replace them with more empowering alternatives.

Yvonne Ellis has been studying personal and spiritual development for over 20 years. She teaches and coaches in these areas and is co-author of the website AttractLikeMagic where you'll find loads of information about the Law of Attraction and the Universal Laws including free eBooks to start off or enhance your Law of Attraction library. Making Sense of the Conscious & Subconscious Mind

By Avinoam Lerner

As a Hypnotherapist I am often asked by my clients about the mind and the mechanics of Hypnosis. Perhaps the most common question is "how come I can't do it by myself?

The truth is that you can do a good amount of work and bring about much positive change with self-hypnosis.

Many of my clients who listen to my self-hypnosis programs report about the positive changes that they experience in their lives. Be it weight loss, body image or overcoming fears, you can certainly train your mind and enjoy the benefits.

However, there are many conditions or symptoms where the aid of a professional Hypnotherapist is necessary. In my office I see people every day who struggle with self-limiting beliefs, destructive behaviors, chronic illness, anxiety & panic attacks and other conditions where the symptoms are debilitating and seem beyond the client control.

With cautious I will say that the root for many of these conditions, if not organic, will reside in the Subconscious Mind, and this is why.

The mind model of Conscious and Subconscious-mind works best to explain why changing some of our habits is more difficult than others. In short these two agencies have a different job title.

Your conscious-mind, also called the critical-mind is working right now as you are reading these lines. Your conscious-mind is logical, analytical and its basic functions are to gather information, evaluate and decide appropriate respond or behavior based on the information stored in the subconscious-mind. The conscious-mind is responsible for short-term memory and will-power, both necessary for optimum daily performance.

The subconscious-mind can be compared to vast library of data or the hard disc of your computer. Every statement, image, concept or idea that you became aware of throughout your life was recorded and stored in your subconscious mind. It's hard to imagine, and yet, each and every day you draw from this library, measure, compare, evaluate and decide your behavior based on your knowledge.

For example, when you walk by the neighborhood bakery, the smell of bread may bring back some wonderful memories that were not available a minute ago. These memories surfaced into consciousness upon demand from the conscious mind to understand a new element in your immediate environment (just doing its job).

The knowledge of what fresh bread smells like, reside in the Subconscious-Mind and therefore the Conscious-Mind could evaluate the new found smell with the one already in place. The same is true for weather or not you find the smell of bread attractive or not.

Based on these "original" perceptions you will decide to act or not, or in this case decide to eat it or not.

If weight loss is your goal, then you want to change your relationship with food. Will power may work for a short while but not for long (which is why diets fail so often). Lasting result can be attained when you change the way you perceive food to be, at the source of perception, which is the Subconscious-Mind.

In a state of hypnosis such change is possible because we are bypassing the critical factor of the Conscious-Mind. Then and only then you will be able to override, replace or change your perception and therefore your life.

Use Your Subconscious Mind to Your Advantage

By Liza Othman

Talking to the Subconscious Mind

Intelligent affirmation (suggestion) - thinking intelligently and strongly of the thing desired, soon becomes the predominant thought in the subconscious mind. This predominant thought becomes the pattern or blueprint which in time is materialized - inwardly and objectively - into the reality of the picture or blueprint of the predominating thought. In other words, whatever we think of oftenest and most strongly, we get. To have health and keep it, health must become a predominating thought. The way to put the subconscious mind to work, is to work on a predominant thought, and thus materialize the thing desired by affirmations, either silently or orally by one's self or in the company of others.

People who do not understand the law of the subconscious mind sometimes get but slight results from affirmations because they think that positive thoughts for health, such as "I am well, whole and complete" are a lie. But, as I say, one does not always understand, the law of the subconscious. It does not reason. It does not argue. It hangs tenaciously to the thought suggested to it and when you give a positive formula for health, you are giving the most direct command to the subconscious mind to get busy on your blueprint of health. You thus become your own health architect to build strength, life, vitality and health into every cell of your being.

Webster's dictionary says that a lie is "a criminal falsehood, an intentional violation of the truth." When you take a positive suggestion or formula for health, you are suggesting that the spirit within the great, "I am", is well, whole and complete, which is absolutely correct. The spirit of man does not become sick. It is his body. We, therefore, talk directly, forcibly and positively to this well spirit (the subconscious mind) which in turn communicates the health thought to every cell of the body. This is itself intelligence which reacts and is made by the thought which the subconscious mind sends to it.

Changing the Complex

The very act of bringing to the light of consciousness the repressed ideas or the implanted obsession, when the patient's mind is unkinked, gives him an insight into the meaning of his trouble. We let him see new points of view, we introduce fresh ideas and feelings into his complexes. In short, we reimpregnate and thus reeducate the subconscious mind. This in itself has wonderful therapeutic value as will be remembered if you recall how the mind is inextricably interwoven with the conscious and the subconscious and how the subconscious mind controls the functionings of all of the organs and senses of the body.

It is apparent on the face of the matter that the mental attitude of patients suffering from any kind of disease which has been produced by wrong thinking, must be changed, new groups of complexes must be formed and this is done almost automatically when we once discover what caused the sickness.

The patient then sees life from another plane; he regards his condition in a new light and his sickness from another angle and by taking counter suggestions - opposite thoughts - new associations and groups of complexes are called into play and the process of rehabilitation and health restoration is a simple, scientific and workable hypothesis.

Bear in mind that the subconscious mind will do anything it is given to do. It will recharge the body with health, vigor, strength - make one all over - as well as alter one's attitude toward life entirely. The subconscious mind will change failure into success, despondency into joy, depression into happiness, futility into achievement; hence the injunction Paul gives us in Philippians 4:8 is truly psychological.

Finally, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

This, in a word, is psychology. To think only of good things until the subconscious mind is obsessed with the good and so crowds out the bad.

Think of those things until the habit of thought has been changed.

"Suggestion controls the world, and 'All things are ready, if our minds be so.' "

Thought and Brain Formation

Professor Elmer Gates of Washington has demonstrated this physiologically in his studies of brain formation. He tells us that every thought produces a slight molecular change in the substance of the brain, and the repetition of the same sort of thought causes a repetition of the same molecular action until at last a veritable channel is formed in the brain substance, which can only be eradicated by a reverse process of thought.

In this way "grooves of thought" are very literal things, and when once established the vibrations of the cosmic currents flow automatically through them and thus react upon the mind by a process the reverse of that by which our voluntary and intentional indrawing from the invisible is affected. In this way are formed what we call "habits," and hence the importance of controlling our thinking and guarding it against undesirable ideas.

But on the other hand this reactionary process may be used to confirm good and life-giving modes of thought as Paul pointed out above so that by a knowledge of its laws we may enlist even the physical body itself in the building up of that perfectly whole personality, the attainment of which is the aim and object of our studies.

So by taking a thought the opposite to the one or more which has caused our sickness we not only supercede the old with the new (open the "little trap door" to let out the old thought) and by affirmations (suggestions) but we by these affirmations make new grooves of thought, forming new thought habits, thought habits of health, and then health we have.

How Does Hypnosis Work ?

By Ravi Oza

Hypnosis is a trance like state where subject becomes complete unaware of current environment. So how does actually hypnosis work? Every time a subject is hypnotized, he or she become more suggestible to a hypnotist. How this happens? Why a person in hypnotic state is always willing to do what ever being said.

Milton Erickson, the hypnosis expert of 20th century, who discovered the conversational hypnosis, stated that a people hypnotize themselves on their daily basis without realizing. Either they are watching movie or just day dreaming, they become so much associated that, they become unaware of the real surroundings. Hypnosis can be defined as a mental state between your sleep and wakeful state.

To understand the process of how does hypnosis work, you need to understand the basic working of your conscious and subconscious mind. When subject goes to hypnotic state, her or his subconscious mind is accessed directly by hypnotist.

If you are in conscious state, you know what you are thinking. You might think about the problems in your life, you might think what to speak and what not to speak while in conversation. You might think where to put things like where to remove your shoes. All these kind of thoughts are handled by conscious mind.

Subconscious mind stores vast information. Conscious mind get the orders from subconscious mind and then execute it. All these information are used to produce new ideas. Any new idea comes from out of box thinking, is actually comes from subconscious mind. Many of the tasks that you do regularly are automatically handled by subconscious mind. Many things you are not thinking about while breathing or driving. You just automatically do it. In short your subconscious mind hold the real power behind all operations.

In a hypnotic state, subject's subconscious mind becomes active and conscious mind becomes less active. So hypnotist is directly works with subconscious mind. Since subconscious mind has all information stored, hypnotist can go to in the past of subject. Hypnotist also can change that information. That's why hypnosis therapy is used to break many bad habits.

So in hypnosis process, subject becomes relax and goes in to subconscious state. In subconscious state, conscious mind becomes less active and hypnotist takes a control of subconscious mind. This is how hypnosis works.

Do you know you can hypnotize someone just talking with them? Milton Erickson was the father of morder hypnosis. He discovered Conversational Hypnosis using which a person can hypnotize subject using just natural ability to speak.
